Woman gets protection against son

Ashley Mujoma
A HARARE woman got a protection order against her 30-year-old son for bashing her whenever he is high on drugs or drunk.

Dorcas Jakombo accused her son, Blessing Jakombo, of physically abusing her and showed magistrate Sharon Mashavire hand injuries she sustained from the assaults.

She said in addition to the assaults, her son also locks her outside her house.

“I have had enough of his nonsense.  Blessing stays at my house and he has the guts of assaulting me in my house. He is also in the habit of soiling the blankets.

“I want him out of my house,” said Dorcas.

Blessing did not oppose his mother’s application.

“The most painful thing is that my mother is forcing me to go and live with a man she is claiming to be my father.

“But, the problem is that man is denying paternity, so why should she keep forcing me to go to that family?” he said.

Magistrate Mashavire was, however, not convinced by his submission and granted his mother the protection order.
