WOMAN GETS PROTECTION IN WITCHCRAFT CASE

Maria Chiguvari
A HARARE woman, who has been accused of practicing witchcraft by her neighbours, was granted a protection order against them at the Civil Court yesterday.

Gladys Muwomo told the court Isaac Masango and his sister Melissa Masango have been harassing her.

She said Isaac is a self-styled prophet and he brings mentally disturbed people to her house, telling them that she is responsible for their condition.

Gladys said Melissa told her tenants that she’d been bewitching them.

“I no longer feel safe around them. They even told my tenants that I am a witch.

“They have a tendency of bringing mad people to my house telling their relatives that I am the cause,” said Gladys.

Both the respondents denied the accusations.

“I know nothing of what she is saying.

“Yes, I go to that church, but I have never accused her of witchcraft,” Isaac said.

Melissa added:

“She is lying, the prophet who said that is not from our church.

“The issue was resolved eight months ago.”

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the protection order after weighing both sides of the story.
