A Harare woman has been granted a protection order against her husband’s girlfriend, bringing to an end two years of harassment and intimidation.

Novulo Ncube sought the court’s intervention, alleging that Charity Takaringa has subjected her to persistent insults, stalking, and disruption of her family life.

Ncube told the Harare Civil Court Magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam that Takaringa has repeatedly called her a “prostitute” and a “witch”.

She highlighted instances where Takaringa allegedly visited her home, creating tension and disturbances. She also recounted an incident where the police had to be called to remove Takaringa from her home.

“I no longer feel safe,” Ncube said, adding that she feels as if she is being watched and stalked.

In addition to the harassment, Ncube told the court that her husband is no longer supporting the family financially.

She said she is currently pursuing a maintenance order for him to support their children.

Ms Narotam granted the protection order in Ncube’s favour after Takaringa failed to appear in court for the hearing.

The order prohibits Takaringa from contacting or harassing Ncube.
