Woman in court for killing boyfriend

Chamunorwa was not formally charged when she appeared before provincial magistrate Mr Sithembinkosi Msipa yesterday.

She indicated that she would deny ever fatally stabbing her boyfriend.

The magistrate remanded her in custody to 5 December.

Chamunorwa was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

For the State, Miss Joyce Mutasa told the court that on Friday, Chamunorwa left her place of residence to attend Oliver Mtukudzi’s live show.

The show went on until Saturday morning when she went home.

Miss Mutasa told the court that when Chamunorwa arrived home on Saturday morning, she was confronted by Mukucha who wanted to know where she had been.

The court heard that Mukucha later demanded to be intimate with her but she refused.

Miss Mutasa said an argument ensued resulting in Chamunorwa reaching for a kitchen knife, which she used to allegedly stab Mukucha in the abdomen.

Mukucha died on the spot as a result of the stabbing.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Chamunorwa’s arrest on Saturday afternoon.
