Woman jailed for seven months

A CHITUNGWIZA woman stabbed another woman on the breast with a knife accusing her of having an illicit affair with her husband.
Angelina Maphosa (34) of Unit K was in tears after Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Adonia Masawi handed her a seven-month jail term for assault.Maphosa could not hold back her tears as she wept uncontrollably after the magistrate announced the sentence.

Mr Masawi slapped her with a 12-month jail term but conditionally set aside five months for the next five years. Maphosa was facing attempted murder charges when her trial started but the charge was later altered to assault. She denied the charges but was convicted after a full trial.

Prosecutor Mr Lovet Muringwa proved that on June 7 and at around 1pm, Maphosa went to the council offices in a bid to question Nikita Neta (34) of the illicit affair.
