A Mberengwa woman chopped off the head of her sistera��s two-year-old son and injured a 6-year-old girl with an axe for telling her they were starving.
Arleta Mafuramoyo (24) had been left in guardianship of the two while their parents visited relatives for the New Yeara��s holiday.
Ruveneko Chitsa who isA� a neighbour saidA� the incident happened after the two-year-old complained of starving since Mafuramoyo had not fed the children.
a�?I was cleaning my yard when I heard Mafuramoyo insulting the children after they complained of starving. She accused the children of delaying her to see her boyfriend,a�? said Chitsa.
In no time Chitsa heard screams and thata��s when she went to see what happened.
She found the two-year-old boy lying in a pool of blood and the six-year-old struggling with a deep cut on her limb.
The six-year-old was rushed to Mberengwa hospital where she is currently battling for her life.
Neighbours alerted the police leading to the arrest of Mafuramoyo who is still in custody waiting for a court trial.
Midlands Police spokesperson, Inspector Joel Goko confirmed the incident.
a�?The suspect is now in custody and will be mentally tested before her trial begins,a�? said Goko.
