Acting Harare provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tarirai Dube confirmed the incident.
“The previous day, Ms Nongwe was approached by the unknown woman at her house in Epworth alleging that she was looking for a house to rent,” she said.
The woman, who appeared to be pregnant, was shown some houses in the area and was told to inquire.
It is alleged that on Tuesday morning the woman went to Ms Nongwe’s house where she lured her to accompany her to a bus stop.

The woman told the baby’s mother that she wanted to wait for a vehicle that was bringing some of her belongings and they waited there for about three hours but to no avail.
“The woman then lured Ms Nongwe to accompany her to the city centre after alleging that she wanted to collect some money and she complied,” Asst Insp Dube said.
She then went into the shop leaving the woman with her child, but she vanished with the baby.
A report was made to the police who are still looking for the suspect. Asst Insp Dube urged the public to assist them with any information leading to the arrest of the suspect. She warned mothers not to be lured by strangers or to leave their new born babies in their custody. Last month a one-week-old baby boy who was stolen at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals while his mother was buying food is still reported missing. Police investigations are still under way.
