A BORROWDALE woman lost more than US$6000 in a botched car deal.

Grace Runhare, 59, of Carrick Creagh Road, was allegedly duped of US$6 732 by Richard Mharadze of Ruwa.

Richard allegedly used a fake car registration book and particulars to entice Grace to buy a car he was selling.

When Grace wanted to change the ownership of the car she was told that the car registration book was fake and Richard was not the actual owner of the vehicle.

That is when she realised that she had been conned.

Efforts to locate Richard were fruitless as calls went unanswered.

He was also no longer available at his house.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating a fraud case.

“The complainant realised it later that she was given fake registration book and identity particulars,” said Insp Chakanza.
