The suspect, Beaular Zimondi,  of Ashdown Park, was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate, Taurai Manuwere, who remanded her in custody.

Her accomplices – Daniel Mutasa, Taurai Pangai and Fortunate Zimondi – were also hauled to court on Saturday facing the same charge of armed robbery.

The court heard that Zimondi and her married lover, Jonathan Gapare, of Alfa Properties, had been dating since 2020.

She was not satisfied with the financial support she was getting from him and decided to rob him.

Zimondi and her accomplices met on several occasions at Mereki in Warren Park as well as at the Showgrounds.

On October 29, the gang members slept at Zimondi’s house, which is close to her lover’s place, and the next morning they went to his house armed with guns.

They introduced themselves as people who had been sent by his customer Dingilwazi Moyo to collect money from him.

Gapare took the four men into his house and they produced guns and tied all members of the household with shoelaces before demanding cash.

The gang then stole US$1 490, two iPhones and a bluetooth speaker.
