Woman seeks protection order against hubby

A Mutare woman last week approached the courts seeking protection against her husband whom she claims wants to kill her.

Chipo Manyande appeared before magistrate Ms Nyasha Kuture requesting a protection order against her aggressive husband, Timothy Mukwekwezeke.

She claims that Mukwekwezeke had on separate occasions threatened to stab or poison her.
“Your Worship, I am afraid for my life because my husband is in the habit of insulting me, as well as harassing me, calling me all sorts of names,” she said.

“I am scared that he will kill me, as at one point he produced a knife and threatened to stab me.”
Manyande accused Mukwekwezeke of destroying her mobile phones, radio, as well as other household property whenever the two had an argument.

“I once left a bucket with water, Your Worship, when I came back I discovered that the water had turned into a blackish colour, as if it had been diluted by diesel,” said Manyande.

In his defence, Mukwekwezeke denied all the accusations levelled against him.
He claimed Manyande was disrespectful and had instead been bringing strange men into their matrimonial home.

Ms Kuture granted Manyande the protection order.
Mukwekwezeke was also ordered not to insult, assault, harass or destroy household property.
