Woman sentenced to 30 months for burning teen’s hand with gas stove over $16 theft

A Bindura woman (27) has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for burning a 15-year-old girl’s left palm with a stove during a dispute over alleged $16 theft.

Ropafadzo Kalolo was arraigned before Bindura Magistrates Court facing assault charges.

According to State papers, on November 11, 2023, Kololo visited the 15-year-old complainant’s residence at Chiwaridzo, Bindura.

Upon arrival, the accused person allegedly assaulted the complainant with switches, accusing her of stealing $16 belonging to her aunt.

Thereafter, Kololo lit a gas stove inside the house and burned the complainant’s left palm.

The complainant suffered burns and other severe injuries, prompting referral to Bindura Provincial Hospital.

The accused’s actions were deemed unlawful. (www.afrogazette.co.zw)
