A MAN from Harare appeared before the Harare Civil Court on Tuesday on allegations of stalking his ex-wife, violence and pestering to be intimate with her.

Ms Nodester Gore accused her ex-husband, Phenias Kufadzirimo, of being in the habit of stalking her wherever she goes, asking for sex.

“I no longer have freedom since he does it to the extent of calling me, saying that he wants to sleep with me,” said Ms Gore.

She said that they divorced due to domestic violence but Kufadzirimo was coming to her house uninvited, asking for sex.

The woman claimed that her ex-husband was also threatening to kill her if she kept refusing to sleep with him.

“I told him that since we are no longer together, there is no need for him to keep looking for me or to be interfering with my life.

“Kufadzirimo swears that l will not have anyone else besides him and if l continue to resist him he would rape me,” Ms Gore told the court.

Apart from the stalking and pestering for sex, Ms Gore said Kufadzirimo also damaged her property.

“I moved from where l was staying and he followed me to my new place. l do not know where he got my address,” she said.

“He broke the windows and doors and my landlord gave me notice (to vacate).”

Ms Gore said she no longer has peace since Kufadzirimo declared that her life is in his hands and he also calls her a prostitute.

Kufadzirimo denied the allegations saying that he does not even know where Ms Gore stays.

“I dispute everything she is saying. I last saw her at the time of our divorce. l am no longer interested in her,” said Kufadzirimo.

Magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam granted the order in favour of Ms Gore and warned Kufadzirimo to refrain from sexually abusing and destroying his ex-wife’s property.
