“I am a mere farmer and I can never afford the money she wants. I cannot offer her any money because I only get US$60 after taking my produce to Mbare Msika. I was staying well with the child all along, paying for his school fees.”

He said problems started when the boy went to his grandmother for the holidays.
Gorosi, however, claimed that the child was being abused. “He came to my home after his father assaulted him. The child also confessed that he is being abused.

“I went to the police and they advised me to take the child into my custody,” she said. Magistrate Ms Rebecca Kaviya ordered Musiiwa to pay US$60 per month into his mother-in-law’s account starting end of this month.
