Woman to do community service for swindling grocery club

Senior Court Reporter
A WOMAN who swindled her grocery club out of $800 must do 420 hours community service and pay back the money by January 31, a court ruled.
Ajisa Chepaiche, of Cowdray Park in Bulawayo, dipped her fingers in the coffers of the club, converting $800 to her own use, the Western Commonage Magistrates’ Court heard.

Chepaiche, who is the treasurer of the club, had been keeping the money meant for Christmas groceries between January and December 2013, said Frank Ncube, prosecuting.
Club members discovered the theft a few days before Christmas when they wanted to order groceries to share.
