A Harare woman dragged her stepson to court yesterday in a bid to get him barred from accessing his late father’s house.
Dadirai Kowo applied for a protection order against her stepson, Valentine Mushozhera, claiming that he was disrespectful and a liar.
Kowo, a retired teacher, claimed that Valentine her stepson had been lying to her since his father passed away and was very disrespectful towards her.
She accused him of refusing to do chores, threatening to burn the house and poison her, and even hiring people to assault her.
“I chased him away at some point because of his behaviour. I need peace,” said Kowo.
Valentine denied all allegations and said that their dispute began when his father passed away.
He said Kowo asked him to exchange his phone with hers, but failed to pay the remaining amount. He said Kowo insulted him and threw his clothes outside the house.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavira dismissed Kowo’s application due to a lack of proof of breach of peace.
