A BUDIRIRO woman, who was allegedly bashed by a cop last week, was arrested on Monday.

Sandra Chipango was arrested for allegedly assaulting her co-tenant, Vimbayi Chamwaura, and Constable Fungirai Sasanhira.

The case was filed at Budiriro Police Station and Sandra believes that her court case against Cst Sasanhira was the reason behind her arrest.

Cst Sasanhira appeared in court facing assault charges last week on Thursday.

Sandra told H-Metro that Cst Sasanhira had vowed revenge for taking him to court.

“My life is in danger. Cst Sasanhira influenced Vimbayi to falsely report me to the police for assault.

“She alleged that I stabbed her with a kitchen knife.

“Ndafonerwa nemupurisa wepaBudiriro kuti huya kuno wakabaya munhu nebanga, ndikashamisika ndokuziva kuti nyaya yekusungisa Cst Sasanhira yandimukira.”

She added:

“Was I supposed to remain silent after being assaulted by Cst Sasanhira?

“We exchanged words with Vimbayi and Mai Ngoni after the two lied to my father-in-law that they had seen me with a lover.

“I confronted them about this and the police at Budiriro Station turned us away vachiti havatonge makuhwa.

“Now, with the influence of Cst Sasanhira, they have decided to cook up a case against me.

“It is my prayer that the court will deliver justice from the ruthless assault Cst Sasanhira subjected me to,” said Sandra.

Cst Sasanhira appeared before a Mbare magistrate last Thursday and was remanded out of custody.

He is expected to return for trial tomorrow.

Sandra claimed Cst Sasanhira used a baton stick to assault her, while she had her baby on her lap, at Budiriro Police Station.

He allegedly attacked her for giving him her marital surname instead of her maiden one.
