woman wins case against tenant, neighbour

A HARARE woman has dragged her tenant and neighbour to court seeking a peace order, citing physical and verbal abuse.

Sekai Karangwa said she has had enough of her neighbour, Dadiso Takayendesa, and her tenant Patience Mawire.

Presiding magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted her the peace order and ordered Dadiso not to assault, insult, intimidate and threaten her.

She also ordered Sekai not to provoke them.

Sekai told the court that their relationship turned sour after Mawire’s boyfriend died in her house.

“Takayendesa is my neighbour and Mawire is my tenant, and they are friends.

“Last week, they came into my room and assaulted me, pulling my braids and I sustained wounds on my head.

“This started after I reprimanded Mawire for keeping someone’s husband, who was literally sick, for days in her room.

“I helped them with money for her boyfriend and we consulted a traditional healer, but the next day Mawire’s boyfriend died.

“Now they are accusing me of killing her boyfriend,” said Sekai.

In response, Patience and Dadiso did not dispute Sekai’s testimony.

“I have no problem if you grant her application, but she should stop spreading rumours about us,” said Patience.

“Your Worship, you may grant her the peace order,” said Dadiso.
