A MAN from Bulawayo who late last year received his pension was yesterday dragged to court by his wife who demanded a $4,500 lumpsum payment for maintenance.
Virginia Ncube told magistrate Adelaide Mbeure that she wanted half of the $9,000 received by Augustine Mlotshwa as pension.
She said the money would be used for her and her 18-year-old son’s upkeep.
The matter was first heard in October 2015 and was suspended awaiting confirmation that the pension had been paid out.
Mlotshwa yesterday confirmed to the court that he had received the lumpsum and he had already used part of the money.
Ncube told the court that she intends to build a house with the money.
“I want to build a house in Nyamandlovu so that I can relocate with my son. I also want to buy livestock and farming equipment.” she said.
She added: “My son isn’t working at the moment so with part of the money I will send him to a driving school. It will help him sustain himself.”
Magistrate Mbeure ruled that out of the $9,000, Ncube be given $2,100.
