A DISGRUNTLED woman’s bid to get protection against her husband, whom she claims is abusive, was dismissed yesterday after her he satisfactorily justified his actions.

Elizabeth Chenhare had claimed that her husband, Shoniwa Jumo, was an abusive man.

“He insults me using obscenities and even assaults me.

“The last time he twisted my hand, put his hands in my eyes and I sustained injuries on my forehead.

“He is very violent and aggressive and sometimes pushes me against the wall,” she said.

Chenhare admitted that she had tried to commit suicide, claiming she could no longer take her husband’s abusive treatment.

Jumo told the court that he acted to stop her committing suicide.

“I do not oppose the application, but the day I twisted her hand, I was trying to stop her from taking poison.

“Last week I ended up pressing her eyes when she tried to burn down the house while we were inside with one of our children,” he said.

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi dismissed her application.

“You cannot take your husband to court for saving your life,” she said.
