Woman’s protection order bid thrown out

A BID by a Harare woman to secure a protection order against her husband flopped after her application was thrown out at the Harare Civil Court.

Millicent Tanga had brought her husband, Trymore Rutanga, to court accusing him of disturbing her peace.

But, she failed to convince magistrate Tamara Chibindi with her evidence.

Millicent told the court that her husband allegedly assaults and insults her, and this was affecting her health as a pregnant person.

“He assaults and insults me using obscenities.

“It is affecting me because I am pregnant.

“We do not stay together, and he only comes home when he feels like,” she said.

Trymore opposed the application, saying they only had a misunderstanding.

“I did not assault her, but we only had a misunderstanding.

“She threatened to cause my arrest for not paying maintenance, but I have been taking care of her and I am still doing so,” he said.

Magistrate Chibindi dismissed the application, saying Millicent failed to convince the court that she was, indeed, being abused.
