A NUMBER of women and children, who are believed to have been subjected to all forms of abuse at Madzibaba Ishmael’s shrine in Nyabira, were yesterday taken from the compound medical examinations amid concerns about their safety.
Armed police officers returned to the compound, for the second day running, and faced minimum resistance from Madzibaba Ishmael’s followers. The women and children were first taken to Parirenyatwa before they were taken to the Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.
They will all undergo medical tests to establish if some were sexually abused.
Some followers broke into tears, crying for their children as police removed them from the so-called “Canaan”.
One man was arrested for trying to defeat the course of justice, blocking law enforcement agencies from collecting the women and children.
One of the followers told H-Metro:
“Our children and women have been forcibly taken away from us.
“We are not aware of where they are taking them to.
“They were not given time to take their meals and we do not know if they are going to feed them there.
“Tangonzi tirikudzoka navo izvezvi.”
