THE Zimbabwe women’s football leadership meets in Harare tomorrow for a review meeting that is likely to see sparks flying after a controversial end to the Super League season.

According to a notice convening the meeting set for Rufaro Stadium’s VIP boardroom tomorrow morning, a massive 11 items will be on the agenda.

Two matters on the agenda items seven and eight will certainly attract a lot of debate.

Item seven deals with the league report for the just-ended season and will be presented by the board member responsible for competitions and after the presentation, members are expected to discuss and adopt the report.

However, some members are up in arms with the Miriam Sibanda-led leadership after Flame Lilly Queens were controversially declared champions after playing 20 games out of the expected 26 that each team ought to have played. Some teams like Bulawayo’s Inline Academy only played six matches while Black Rhinos Queens, league runners up with 49 points compared to the winners’ 53, played two games fewer.

“Further to the notice of 6 February, 2015, please be advised that there’ll be a meeting of chairpersons of National Super League clubs, regional chairpersons and chairpersons of the four clubs to be promoted from the regions,” read the notice convening the meeting.

Weekly Mwale’s Hwange Ladies ended the season on fifth place after playing 19 games, in the process amassing 18 points.

Street Set owner, Lee Mangena set the tone for the meeting with his Facebook post in which he described the final table standings as a circus.

“The Super League concluded with Flame Lily being crowned champions but funny enough having played two games more than Black Rhinos who played 18 games and were two points behind. Inline only played six games, Borrow Jets 10, what a circus!” wrote Mangena.

Some officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said they were going to call for a proper relegation and promotion procedure while also totally rejecting calls to have a 12-team league.

Representatives from Aces Academy, Auckland Queens, Black Rhinos Queens, Borrow Jets, Chipembere Queens, Conduit Academy, Cyclone Stars, Faith Drive Queens, Flame Lily Queens, Hwange Ladies, Inline Academy, Mufakose Queens, Tenax Queens, ZRP Harare Province, regional associations’ chairpersons and chairpersons of promoted regional teams will attend.
