PREPARATIONS for the all women gospel concert in Bulawayo have begun and the organisers are calling on more gospel artistes to join the line up.The gig dubbed Bulawayo Women in Gospel Concert, has been slated for 9 November at Bulawayo Theatre.

Pastor Joyce Mungofa, one of the organisers of the show said the concert would be held under the theme: Women in Gospel Arise.
“The event is meant to give gospel singers a platform to showcase their talent.

“We are also calling upon budding and  aspiring gospel artistes to come on board and join in ministering the word of God through music,” said Mungofa.

She said they were working on making the concert an annual event.
“We have realised that there is a lot of talent in Bulawayo but most of the artistes do not have a platform to showcase their talent.
The door is open for all female artistes to come and join us”.

Some of the artistes that have confirmed participation at the event are Abigail Mwembe, Thobekile Nleya, Xolani Mlangeni and Aidah Mangwiro.

Pastor Mungofa said even male gospel singers were welcome to join in the line up as supporting acts. Bulawayo has seen a decrease in the number of gospel artistes as they have often been discouraged by audience apathy.

Harare- based gospel couple Olivia and Charles Charamba are among the few artistes that have managed to draw large crowds to their shows in the city.
