THE Zanu PF Women’s League has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the party and pledged to continue working tirelessly towards building a prosperous Zimbabwe.

Speaking at the Presidential Empowerment Fund launch in Harare yesterday, Women’s League Secretary Cde Mabel Chinomona said they are up to the task in driving the national agenda of becoming an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.

“We are using the Fishers of Men to reach out to women in every ward by giving them skills and opening opportunities for them. No woman should be left behind, but they should be part of national development,” said Cde Chinomona.

Women, she said, are receiving the tools and equipment needed to start their own business.

Several women are into chicken rearing, pig farming, cattle fattening, while some are undergoing driving lessons through President Mnangagwa’s initiatives.

The league has established a Fishers of Men initiative meant to mobilise more women to join the party.

“It is the duty of everyone to work towards the development of the country,” Cde Chinomona said.

She commended President Mnangagwa for opening opportunities for women.

“As women, if we are empowered, we can stand on our own; if the woman of the house is lazy, the whole house will be in disarray, but if she is active, the house will be well kept. We assure the President that everything is in order,” said Cde Chinomona.

She commended President Mnangagwa for uplifting women.

“At every turn, you have put women at the centre of national development,” Cde Chinomona said.

Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, who also attended the launch,  said the Second Republic is committed to empowering women.

“You (the Women’s League) are expected to be the backbone of our party, Zanu PF.

“The Women’s League should be exemplary leaders and champions who continue to inspire and mentor the next generation,” he said.

VP Chiwenga said the launch of the women’s fund is a clarion call to deepen unity in the ruling party and beyond.

“You should serve with humility, listen with empathy and act fairly. Embrace resilience and prioritise service,” he said.

Vice President Kembo Mohadi said President Mnangagwa has demonstrated his commitment to uplifting women across the country.

“The President has elevated this occasion to a national statement of intent,” he said.

VP Mohadi commended the leadership of the Women’s League for hosting a successful launch.

“The results are clear for all of us to see,” said the Vice President.

He implored beneficiaries to put to good use the implements that have been provided to them.

Zanu PF National chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri expressed gratitude to President Mnangagwa for supporting women’s programmes.

“You demonstrate your traits of a listening leader. You walk to talk,” said Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri

She commended Cde Chinomona and her executive for mobilising women from the grassroots to join the party

“Women are step-fast foot soldiers who can spearhead developmental programmes. Empowering a woman is empowering the nation”.

Harare Provincial Minister  Charles Tawengwa commended President Mnangagwa for ensuring the establishment of the women’s fund.

He said the fund will make women active players in the country’s economic development.

“We witness yet another birth of a transformative initiative, an instrument that will open doors and opportunities for countless women across the country,” said Minister Tawengwa.

“Each initiative strengthens our foundation and empowers women to play pivotal roles in society”.

Minister Tawengwa thanked President Mnangagwa for his unwavering commitment to Zanu PF and the people of Zimbabwe.

The launch was attended by more than 5 000 women drawn from the ruling party’s districts.
