ZANU-PF Bulawayo Provincial Women’s League held an inter-district meeting to thank women for rallying behind the revolutionary party during the 31 July harmonised elections.
The meeting, which was held at the Zanu-PF Bulawayo headquarters, Davies Hall, on Wednesday, was attended by more than 1 500 women drawn from the 29 wards in the metropolitan province.
Speaking during the meeting, the chairperson of the Zanu-PF Bulawayo Provincial Women’s League, Cde Sihle Thebe, commended her colleagues for rallying behind the party.
“We decided to call for this meeting to appreciate the role which was played by women during the election campaign. They sacrificed their time when they participated in all Zanu-PF campaign programmes and as a party we would like to thank you for your commitment and unwavering support during our campaigns,” said Cde Thebe.
She said the committee was going to hold other meetings in all wards during which women would be afforded an opportunity to present their needs to the Government.
“We intend to constantly visit women in their respective wards so that they can present their expectations. We also want them to continue supporting the party,” said Cde Thebe.
Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Bulawayo, Cde Nomthandazo Eunice Moyo also commended women for a job well done during the party’s campaigns.
She said the party was going to economically empower them. “We are going to ensure that women in Bulawayo are economically empowered. We will approach different institutions to assist us in that regard,” said Minister Moyo.
