Women’s League makes 90k masks

The Zanu PF Women’s League has so far produced about 90 000 face masks from part of the 60 000 metres of cloth provided by President Mnangagwa to help curb the spread of Covid-19, the wing’s secretary Cde Mabel Chinomona has said.

Speaking during her visit to Banket on Sunday where she distributed some of the face masks to members of the league in Mashonaland West province, Cde Chinomona said women were taking the lead in the fight against Covid-19.

She said the move by the Women’s League was aimed at providing assistance to the President and Government towards the fight against Covid-19.

“After noticing how the pandemic was ravaging other nations, we saw it fit as the Women’s League to engage the President so that we could produce face masks,” said Cde Chinomona.

“President Mnangagwa then acted swiftly and provided us with 60 000 metres of cloth and right now, 90 000 face masks have been produced by the women.”

In her remarks, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs for Mashonaland West, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka applauded President Mnangagwa for introducing lockdown measures that helped control the spread of the disease and urged non-essential service providers to stay at home until the end of the lockdown.
