THE top four teams from the 2012 Zimbabwe Women’s Super League have been handed byes in the first round of the inaugural NetOne Charity Shield Knock-out Tournament that roars into life today at various venues across the country. The Super League failed to kick off last year and the organisers of the Charity Shield have used the standings from the 2012 season to determine the seeding. ZWSL administrator, Theresa Maguraushe, yesterday said they were hoping to hold the quarter-finals on February 1 while the semi-finals will also be staged next month.

“The top four teams from the Super League from the 2012 season are seeded for the draw and have been given a bye in the first round. We did not hold the Super League last year because of some challenges, hence we used the 2012 standings,” said Maguraushe. Black Rhinos, Mufakose Queens, Inline Academy and Cylcone Queens will join the 12-team tournament at the quarter-final stages.
