MAGWEGWE Stars beat struggling Street Set 3-0 in a Bulawayo Division One Women’s Soccer League match played over the weekend.
Street Set played with just eight players and gave a fair account of themselves under the circumstances. This was Magwegwe’s third match of the campaign and they bounced back to winning ways after a 2-3 defeat by Inline Academy in their previous match.
Magwegwe Stars coach, Lungile Ndlovu, said his team was still far from being match fit. “The girls get tired easily, if we play more games we will be on the right track. However, they played well against Street Set,” said Ndlovu. He said early kick offs affect their players as temperatures will be high at midday.
“We play our games early in the day, it will be so hot and that really affects our game, we will have to ask the administration to move our games to 3pm,” he said.
Most clubs are struggling to fulfill their fixtures as they lack sponsorship. “The girls are improving but lack of sponsorship has really affected most of the clubs,” said Ndlovu.
Cowdray Park were set to travel to Hwange but failed to raise money for the trip. Sigola Queens postponed their match against Inline Academy as there was a political event in their village.
