Women’s vote will carry the day for Zanu PF: Chinomona

WOMEN will likely carry the day for President Mnangagwa and the ruling ZANU PF in the August 23 harmonised elections, the Women’s League Secretary, Cde Mabel Chinomona, has said.

Women constitute more than 53 percent of the voting population.

Cde Chinomona told The Sunday Mail on the sidelines of a ZANU PF Women’s League rally in Zvimba East constituency last week that President Mnangagwa is assured of a resounding victory, as his empowerment drive resonates well with the aspirations of most women around the country.

“I can foresee quite a huge success because our women appreciate issues,” said Cde Chinomona.

“Our President is hardworking and has provided many programmes to empower women. No woman voter would want to vote against such a candidate, who has the country at heart and strives to improve the lives of all Zimbabweans without leaving anyone behind. I have no doubt in my mind that most women will vote for our President during the forthcoming elections.”

The Zvimba East event, she said, was the first of a marathon of rallies the Women’s League will hold countrywide ahead of the polls.

“We are going to move around as the Women’s League because we have huge members in the whole country to rally for support on behalf of our leader.”

She said voters appreciate why the country is having challenges with its currency and is plagued by price hikes at a time when elections are around the corner.

“They have understood why there are currency problems and price hikes at this juncture. We showed them that from the day President Mnangagwa proclaimed the election date, things started to change. So, we were advising them to be on the lookout for the opposition’s shenanigans.”

Cde Francis Mukwangwariwa will be representing ZANU PF in Zvimba East.
