SERENA WILLIAMS made a sensational comeback just four months after giving birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia.
The tennis star, who boasts 23 grand slam singles titles, narrowly lost her Abu Dhabi debut to the French Open Champion Jelena Ostapenko.
Williams lost the first set, but clawed back in the second only to be pipped at the post in the final set, during a tie-break.
Following the match, that ended 2-6,6-3,5-10, the American star said: a�?First matches back are always hard,A� especially after having a baby, but ita��s great to be here.a�?
The 36-year-old reflected on the change in mentality and said: a�?Motherhood is phenomenal. I was a little worried out there – I looked at my camp and asked a�?is Olympia okay?a�? but ita��s good to be back on the court.
a�?This was such a good time for me.a�?
Lamenting on her performance, the smiling star said: a�?Ita��s really good. Ia��m excited. Ita��s good to be back on the court.a�?
Playing at the exhibition match in Abu Dhabi was a first for the American- the event was well chosen as a significant comeback.
The tennis star is a shining beacon in sport- she won the Australian open while pregnant and returns to the court when her baby is just four months old.

The match in Abu Dhabi was somewhat of a warm up for the all-time great as she heads down under for the Australian open, looking to defend the title she won in January 2017.
Earlier this year, Sunsport reported that Marion Bartoli was spotted training ahead of an anticipated comeback and the WTA tournament will see her return to the court after a four year break.
Andy Murray also lost in his exhibition match, after several months out, but hopped on a plane that was Australian bound to compete in the open too. . .
