‘Work on Bulawayo-Kezi road to honour Dr Nkomo’

MATOBO North Member of Parliament Cde Edgar Moyo has called on the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development to work on the Bulawayo-Kezi Road as a way of honouring the late Vice-President Dr Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo whose home area is Kezi.

In an interview, Cde Moyo said the ministry should include the project as one of its key targets as a way of appreciating the contributions that were made by the late VP.
“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development should next year look into the project and include it in its 2020 budget. The

road was once rehabilitated way back but only an area of 40 kilometres and now that area is bad again. The road is expected to be a main road because apart from the fact that Father Zimbabwe comes from this area it also links various tourist attractions,” he said.

“The residents need to feel important because they raised someone pivotal to the history of this country.”

Cde Moyo said people from Kezi have been lobbying for the rehabilitation of the road for a long time.

He said although, because of economic challenges, the project cannot be completed in one year, there was a need to show some intent.

“Even though the road rehabilitation project may not be completed next year an effort towards rehabilitating it will make a huge difference to the road itself and people living in the area,” he said.
