Workers steal 330 tonnes of sugar

SEVEN Tongaat Hullet employees allegedly connived and stole 330 tonnes of sugar worth over US$305 000 using a fake invoicing system.
Nelson Todini (56),Joel Marufu (51),Rodwell Mahari (39),Douglas Kutadzaushe (37),Lovemore Museva (26),Richard Gwebu (35), Samuel Zingoni (35) and Alphonce Chiminya (45), who were all based in Triangle, have since appeared before a Chiredzi magistrate facing fraud charges.

They were not asked to plead when they appeared before magistrate Mr Taengwa Chibanda yesterday. He remanded them out of custody to February 18 on US$100 bail each.

The accused were represented by Mr Charles Vhudzi of Chuma, Gurajena and Partners.
Prosecutor Gladmore Gwara alleges that on February 15 and July 30 last year, the seven hatched a plan to steal from their employer.
