World Vision drills boreholes

NON-GOVERNMENTAL organisation World Vision Zimbabwe has donated equipment and drilled boreholes at some rural schools in Beitbridge district to boost their capacity to fight Covid-19.

The organisation’s Limpopo area development manager (Matibe cluster), Mrs Pretty Dube, said the initiative is part of many community assistance projects to support Government efforts to combat the pandemic.

The donation, she said, was to assist schools as they prepared for reopening.

World Vision would continue mobilising resources to help communities adapt to the effects of the pandemic.

Items collectively donated to Chapfuche, Dumba, and Whunga schools included 2 800 litres of liquid soap, 2 000 litres of chlorine, 20 bins, 10 foot-operated bins, 120×20litre buckets, 120 brooms and 120 mops.

“In addition, the schools now have boreholes that have been drilled and solar mechanised.

“Children now have access to clean running water,” she said.

Since the start of the pandemic, World Vision had also donated sanitisers, latex gloves, chlorine, face masks, 400 litres of fuel, among other items, to the Beitbridge District Hospital.
