SEASONED Chicken Inn head coach Joey “Mafero” Antipas has called of unity of purpose in their quest to grind positive results with seven rounds of play remaining before the Castle Lager Premier Soccer (PSL) concludes.
Smarting from a Chibuku Super Cup exit, Gamecocks, who are position 12 on the league’s log standings with 30 points ahead of their home game against relegation-threatened Kwekwe United.
Gamecocks’ form guide reads LDWLD meaning the Innscor sponsored outfit has managed to collect a paltry five points from a possible 15 in their last five games.
This translates to a 33 percent success rate, a development that has naturally worried Antipas.
“It’s unfortunate we crushed out of the Chibuku Super Cup after penalty shoot outs. Penalties are anyone’s game. However, we need to keep our heads high and the game against Kwekwe United is a must win for us,” said Antipas.
“We must win by all means, improve our performances starting with this game. We have to be united as a group. It’s all about unity and hard work as we continue to seek positive results,” said Antipas.
He revealed that experienced duo of George Majika and Malvin Hwata were in the treatment room, and they are expected to pass a late fitness test.
“We still have to get Hwata and Majika assessed. They are not fully fit, we will stand guided by our medical team,” said Antipas.
Kwekwe United sit at the bottom of the log table with a paltry 10 points. Their form guide reads LLLLD meaning they have only managed to collect a single point from their last five games.
In other matches scheduled for this weekend, log leaders Simba Bhora have a date with Scottland in a potentially exciting fixture that will be played at Wadzanayi Stadium.
This is a potential title decider that is expected to attract a big crowd.
Herentals College will take on CAPS United. ZPC Kariba will be home to former champions Ngezi Platinum Stars at Nyamhunga Stadium.
Yadah Stars will welcome Bikita Minerals at Heart Stadium and on Sunday Dynamos will do battle against Triangle United at Rufaro Stadium.
