A 24-year-old writer from Mutare has authored a series of Ndau books, including a novel and poetry book for secondary schools, and is now working on a Ndau book for Grade 7 students.

Prominent Sithole hopes the books will provide an opportunity for people from other provinces to learn and appreciate the Ndau language, when they visit Manicaland Province.  He also wants to help preserve the language and culture.

“I firmly believe that our culture and language are invaluable treasures that deserve to be celebrated and preserved.

“By writing these books, I hope to create a lasting legacy that future generations can embrace and cherish.

“These books also hold the potential for employment creation, as it opens avenues for Ndau language teachers to emerge from the province and teach the language across the country, like Ndebele, Shona and other languages,” said Sithole.

However, he is facing obstacles in the book industry where the distribution of his books to all schools is being hindered.

“I am determined to overcome the obstacles I face because I firmly believe in the power of education and literature to transform lives.”
