adminBARCELONA midfielder Xavi has slammed the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s decision in not allowing the Catalan giants to make any transfers in 2015. The La Liga giants were found guilty of breaching regulations over the acquisitions of under-age foreign players by Fifa, and have now had their ban upheld by the CAS in a decision that could see the league suffer as a direct result.
And speaking to Sport, Xavi has now had his say on a punishment that could harm their efforts of winning the La Liga title back from Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
“We have all been disturbed by the CAS decision. I expected them to be more lenient,” the Spanish veteran said.
“I find it a huge injustice because no club in the world takes better care of their young players. This will make us even stronger.”
Regardless of the ban, the 34-year-old believes their formidable strike force of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez can see them hit the same heights of yesteryear.
“The top three are three beasts,” he continued.
“The attack has potential for very good games. Neymar is performing brutally, you will see Suarez increasingly improve and Messi has returned to give his best.”
With the club now banned from buying new players in the next two transfer windows, it could come at a bad time with so many of the current squad currently considering their position at the Nou Camp.
Sergio Busquets could be the biggest casualty with Jose Mourinho keen to bring him to Chelsea, whilst Martin Montoya is also tickling the fancy of Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus.
