YADAH have made history by becoming the first team in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League to have some Samba flair after signing three Brazilians.
The ambitious Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries team unveiled the trio in a colourful ceremony at Yadah hotel yesterday. The three who include Marques Barcellos Joao Pedro (20), Pereira de Brito Deivid (21) and Luciano Farias Juan (20) are all utilities.
They have penned two year contracts each. And they will be expected to further strengthen a team whose philosophy revolves around tiki-taka football in which Brazilians are famous for.
With 14 points to their name, Yadah are 14 points behind log leaders Highlanders after as many games and they will be looking to close that gap after adding the three Brazilians in their squad.
Club president Prophet Walter Magaya said his team has been following the three for over two years before deciding to capture them.
“I should say it has been easy for us. We identified these players some two or so years ago and we decided to follow their progress. “They are members of PHD Ministries and it has been easy for us to closely monitor them,” he said.
“Our technical team were impressed and we had to take them.
“It’s a huge step forward for us. We are a team that thrives on playing beautiful football.
“And having players who were also raised in an environment with a high football culture is a big boost.
“As Yadah, we have a lot of products dotted around the league and doing very well too”. Chief executive officer Admire Mango hailed Betterbrands Jewellery for playing a big role in bringing the Brazilian players to Yadah.
“I would like to applaud our sponsors including Betterbrands Jewellery who saw to it that we brought the Brazilians home.
“I would like to thank Scott Sakupwanya, the Betterbrands Jewellery director for the important role he continues to play in the betterment of the squad,” said Mango.
“The coming in of the three players from Brazil is a show of our total commitment to improving football standards in the country”.
Yadah coach Expense Chitukutuku together with players Vincent Sango and Mandlenkosi Mlilo said the Brazilian trio will add more steel in the team.
Yadah are making inroads in the development of football in the country and they have since set up a thriving academy which has kids as young as three years.
The academy will welcome one of the most iconic football teams in the world – Juventus who are coming to scout for talent on August 26.
The Harare team will hold pre-trials across the country on August 4 and 5.
