the traditional Yellow Pages fluorescent yellow colour, but now features charcoal grey instead of black.
The Yellow Pages logo is typically used across the world by every Yellow Pages publisher and in some countries is not protected as a trademark. However, in Zimbabwe the trademark is registered under Zimbabwe Yellow Pages, a company owned by Ms Mordecai Karira.
It is this company that has published the official TelOne directory since 2009. Yellow Pages Zimbabwe general manager Ms Lizwe Bunu said the idea behind re-branding the logo was to distinguish the firm from other Yellow Pages publishers on the market.
“In Zimbabwe we have a few companies masquerading as Yellow Pages hence, the need to rebrand and reposition ourselves in the marketplace. The new brand acts as a differentiator in the eyes of the market,” she said.
The company’s Yellow Pages lists over 10 000 local companies, and its online version includes a database with profiles for Zimbabwean companies.
Ms Bunu also indicated that they would soon launch a ‘Corporate Phonebook’ that will include companies’ social networking sites addresses, which will basically act a transacting platform for local businesses.
