AFTER an upcoming artiste revealed to Sunday Life that she had been swindled of US$700 by popular Bulawayo artiste, Jaycee, known for his hit song Ungayithi Vuu, another woman has come forward and claimed to be a victim of the musician’s alleged dishonesty.
The latest accusation comes from Makhosazana Mnkandla (29), who said she fell victim to Jaycee’s alleged deceptive practices last year.
In an interview with Sunday Life, Mnkandla said in November last year, she was approached by Jaycee with a business proposal aimed at providing catering services for his events.
“Jaycee responded positively, expressing enthusiasm for the idea. He mentioned an upcoming performance in Esigodini and urged me to implement the plan quickly,” she said.
She said the situation took a troubling turn when Jaycee suggested that they buy out the owner of a bar where he was scheduled to perform, promising that they would split the profits.
To initiate that venture, he requested Mnkandla to send him US$350. Trusting the artiste, she transferred US$250 along with R1 500.
As the event approached, Jaycee sent Mnkandla videos that showed a successful event, but when she asked about her share of the profits, he became evasive.
“Days passed without any financial return and Jaycee began concocting excuses. Eventually, he blocked me on social media and stopped answering my calls,” she revealed.
The reality hit her really hard when she realised she had been swindled.
Desperate to resolve the situation, Mnkandla sought out Jaycee’s home, hoping to confront him and recover her money.
She encountered his neighbours, who informed her that she was not likely to get her funds.
“Jaycee is a fraudster, he is well known for swindling women out of their money,” one neighbour who preferred to remain anonymous stated.
Meanwhile, Jaycee’s “first” victim, Sharon Chikuni said she has reported the matter to the police.
“I have since reported the case to the police and investigations are under away,” said Chikuni.
Jaycee did not respond to Sunday Life when contacted for a comment.
