Victory over crisis

GREETINGS beloved nation, in the name of Jesus Christ. 1 John 5:4-5 states, “4 For whosoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”

The Bible assures us that whoever is born of God overcomes the world. We are living in challenging times marked by rapid changes that often disadvantage us. There is widespread discouragement, with demonic activities and darkness enveloping the globe.

Many have lost hope and a sense of direction. People are feeling defeated in various aspects of their lives—be it in business, marriage, or finances. Their fears are real, exacerbated by an evil force promoting wickedness, death and disappointment. Many have given up, including men and women of God.

But I am here to encourage you: the Bible reminds us that despite the dire circumstances we witness, there is hope in the Lord Jesus Christ for those who believe. The Word states, “For whosoever is born of God overcometh the world.”

Therefore, we are assured that whatever challenges we face, as children of God, we are overcomers. Let the giant within you rise through prayer and faith. Whatever the enemy has stolen from you, God is restoring it because you are an overcomer, born of God.

Many have relied on worldly means and have forgotten to call upon the name of Jesus, who is capable of delivering us from all calamities.

Jesus said to His disciples, “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” The Bible assures us that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord. Whatever the devil intends, God will turn it for good as long as we rise in prayer and faith, donning the garments of victory and knowing we are on the winning side.

Refuse to be discouraged and refuse to give up. There is a God in Heaven. We should embody the attitude of winners, regardless of what we see around us. Let us arise and confront every demon that seeks to undermine the graces God has bestowed upon us. We still have the power to return to the enemy’s camp, making demands through prayer, declarations and binding the enemy, reclaiming our blessings. Remember, we are born of God, we are overcomers and victory is ours.

Let us engage in prayer. The Bible recounts in 2 Samuel 23:9-10: “And after him was Eleazar, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle and the men of Israel were gone away: 10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.”

A vast Philistine army was approaching Israel, causing God’s people to flee. Astonishingly, these were God’s chosen fleeing from their foes. I pondered, “Where was God when His army turned away from battle?” They felt discouraged, possibly seeing themselves as grasshoppers compared to the mighty of their enemies.

Ladies and gentlemen, we walk by faith, not by sight. Although the Philistines appeared powerful, the Israelites lost sight of God and succumbed to fear, forgetting that He was with them.

Today, a similar situation exists; many have distanced themselves from God and are spiritually dead. I pray that the spirit of Eleazar may infuse the Church and God’s people. The Bible notes that Eleazar “rose up and smote the Philistines.” What a remarkable man! He recognized that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Let us refuse to flee from our challenges and confront them with the knowledge that God is fighting alongside us, for the battle belongs to the Lord.

Let us elevate our faith and prayer life, declaring to any spirits that bring sickness, unemployment and disappointment, “I am a child of God. I will stand firm in faith until the Lord delivers me, just as He did for Eleazar.”

Remember, as the book of Ephesians states, “We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers of darkness.” These are the very forces behind the ailments affecting our world.

We must confront these entities as Eleazar did. In this season, it is crucial to engage in fervent prayer—even when we grow weary. The enemy seems to have heightened the standard of wickedness over the Church of God. God seeks men and women who will partner with Him, who will fight like Eleazar. The Bible mentions that “his hand clave unto the sword,” signifying persistence, as we know that persistence breaks resistance. There was a spirit upon Eleazar that enabled him to face the Philistine army alone. What an extraordinary man! This spirit is the Holy Spirit, our helper.

May the Holy Spirit empower us amid our struggles and grant us victory. One person filled with the Holy Spirit can achieve great feats. The Bible states, “And the people returned after him only to spoil.” When we allow the Holy Spirit to fight through us, others will partake in the blessings God has bestowed upon us after we’ve combated life’s battles in prayer and through His Word. Remember, victory leads to testimony and blessings.

If you are not born again, I urge you: without accepting Jesus as your personal Saviour, victory may elude you.

So come to Jesus; He will give you the victory.

May the Lord God bless our beloved nation, Zimbabwe. Amen.
