A woman from Bulawayo has demonstrated her zeal for ensuring that vulnerable members of her community live better lives and have their rights represented.
Yollander Millin (38) is a passionate advocate for social and economic justice, women and child rights, and debt justice.
She is also a writer, blogger, and philanthropist who actively fights inequality. Millin has worked with various organizations to champion a better life for vulnerable members of society.

Millin began her philanthropic work in 2020 and has since collaborated with organizations such as Mustard Seed Communities Zimbabwe, Nozizwe Mother of Nations Trust, Fight Inequality Alliance, Tree of Life Trust, and We Are One Movement in her efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable individuals.
Her work has included initiatives such as soup kitchens, food distribution during the COVID-19 pandemic, menstrual hygiene pad drives, advocacy for access to documentation for internally displaced persons in Bulawayo, and raising awareness about the living conditions of vulnerable communities in the city.
“I don’t want to change the world because I believe no single individual can change the world alone. However, I feel a strong desire to help others,” she said.
“Through my work with the Nozizwe Mother of Nations Trust and other organizations, I’ve been able to assist approximately more than 5 000 people.”
Their primary focus is on assisting children, women, and individuals from internally displaced communities. However, a significant challenge they face is securing adequate funding for their initiatives.
“My message to Zimbabweans is that people should not view their lives as isolated existences. Life is interdependent, and we all rely on each other.
“You never know who might be supporting you on your journey. Even small acts of kindness, such as offering someone food or helping them cross the street, can make a significant difference,” she said.
She adds:” “I always quote the Bible to say give and it shall come back to you in good measure. If you are giving kindness, you shall also receive kindness and if you are giving meanness, you shall also receive meanness.”
Millin said she wishes to establish a brand that will have an organization that speaks to the needs of women because although women are the majority they are the ones who still suffer a lot.
“I would also like to support initiatives for the boy child because I’m a mother who has a son, “she said.
“Looking into the future, my wish is that the organizations I’m working with and the ones I wish to create be visible enough to say they are making greater change and greater impact all over the world “she said.
“I want people to know that we as Africans are not as backward as they presume us to be, we can actually solve our problems on our own,” she said.
