Dear learners,
Let me tell you a story about a girl named Tariro. She was just like many of you — smart, full of dreams and full of life. In Form Two, she wanted to be a nurse. She had a notebook where she’d write her future plans, her favourite subject was science and her teachers always said she had great potential.
But as time went on, Tariro started changing. She made new friends who pressured her into skipping lessons, trying alcohol and focusing less on school. She became addicted to validation from social media — chasing likes, followers and attention from older boys.

One of those boys sweet-talked her into a relationship. Before she even turned 16, she was pregnant.
When the school found out, she was ashamed. Her classmates whispered behind her back. She had to drop out for a while. It felt like her whole future had collapsed.
For a long time, she believed that her mistake had ended her dreams. But then, one day, her aunt sat her down and said, “Your mistake is not the end. It’s only a part of your story. What you do next is what matters.”
That conversation changed her life. Tariro went back to school after giving birth. It was hard. People still judged her, but she kept going. She worked twice as hard, passed her O-levels and later trained to be a nurse — just like she had always dreamed.
Today, she tells her story in schools to encourage others. Her message is clear:
“Don’t be defined by your past mistakes.”
Yes, school is hard sometimes. The pressure is real. Some of you may have already made choices you regret — whether it’s starting drugs, getting caught up in toxic friendships or being influenced by social media. Maybe you feel like it’s too late.

But it’s not. You can still turn your life around. You can still rise. Mistakes are lessons, not life sentences. Learn from them.
Make better choices starting today. Protect your future. Stay focused on your goals.
You are more than your past — you are your potential.
Keep going.
