Cassper Nyovest has never been shy to remind people about the work he’s put into building his name in the industry, and this time was no different.
The rapper found himself having to remind a couple of internet trolls who he is and how he built his name. This comes after he announced his return to X and teased new music, a different sound, and what he called a “new character unlocked”.
However, instead of excitement, some netizens immediately started questioning whether he could still pull the same attention he once did. Others pointed out that they did not realise Nyovest’s absence from the app, while another X user told him that “bad things” were being said about him.
“What’s new? Dawg, I’m Cassper Nyovest. Even when I’m quiet, my name is loud in the streets!!! That’s promo that some rappers would shoot nudity tapes for,” he responded.
As the criticism rolled in, the rapper used the moment to reflect on longevity, brand power, and what it means to still have people talking about you more than a decade into your career.
“You know what it takes to build a brand so big that you don’t need publicity stunts or drama for PR,” he wrote.
“Like you could play video games for a year straight and still get shows like a breaking new artist. Still do streams like I’m going viral for a dance challenge. 12 years deep!!!”
As always, the post sparked conversation online, especially because Nyovest has built much of his career around consistency and a bit of controversy.
Over the years, the rapper has managed to keep his name in conversations through music releases, business ventures, his beef with the now late rapper AKA, boxing matches, sold-out shows, and, most recently, his video game streaming channel on Twitch. He also had his fair share of scandals after his former girlfriend and baby mama, Thobeka Majozi, revealed that he was allegedly unfaithful to her while their infant son was undergoing cancer treatment. His comments also come at a time when online attention often feels tied to drama, viral fights, or staged moments.
