farmers raised US$1 400 in less than 10 minutes in honour of his late father..
The Chiredzi Sugar Cane Farmers’ Association boss Admore Hwarare had to console the Young Igwe as he failed to control his emotions and openly broke down in front of hundreds of farmers who were also left touched.
Hwarare set the ball rolling after he called Peter to the stage and told the farmers that the Young Igwe had done well in keeping his father’s legacy by continuing with the Utakataka Band.
He challenged farmers to show appreciation by contributing something towards the young prodigy.
In less than 10 minutes the farmers had already collected US$1 400.
Speaking to The Herald Entertainment afterwards, the young Igwe said the love people still had for his late father, Tongai Moyo, touched him.

“My brother, I could not just hold back tears because I had come here to perform on the strength of a contract that we signed.
“But people here just showed me they loved my father by simply donating some money for the Dhewa family.
“I am touched that my father had some friends and followers who still love him even after his death,” said Peter.
However, a power outage prevented the Young Igwe from showcasing his talents to the Chiredzi
folk.
As Peter and his entourage prepared to belt out his father’s popular hit “Naye”, there was a power failure, forcing the Young Igwe to stop performing.
He had to leave the sugar-growing town without performing after efforts to restore power proved futile.
Peter’s father Tongai Moyo succumbed to cancer last year after a long battle with the deadly disease leaving the Young Igwe to carry on with his legacy.
However, the young prodigy has not disappointed judging by the response he has been getting from the fans.
