Bambo, as he is affectionately known in music circles, took revellers down memory lane when he churned out the late John Chibadura’s songs, hit after hit.
While Chomudhara performance was overshadowed by the new Igwe, it was spiced by his comic dancer, Manyowa who enticed fans with his Nyau dance. However he could not last longer on the stage, as fans started yelling insults demanding that he should give way to the new Utakataka Express front man.
This prompted Shiga Shiga, the backing vocalist to go on stage and started chanting, “We have got new Igwe in the house” and fans responded by screaming, “Dehwa,” “Dehwa.”
The chanting heralded the arrival of the Igwe, clad in red with matching shoes, in the Father Flower style.
The fans went berserk that it took him a while to settle as revellers jostled to get a hand shake from the young, but promising man.
He opened his account with Muchina Muhombe and the enthusiastic crowd could be seen waving their hands in excitement.
Other songs that he played were Ndinotenda Dhiya, Muridzi Wenyaya, Toita Basa, Murozvi Mukuru (Samanyemba) and Zakeo among other hits. However, it was when he played the lead guitar on
Murozvi Mukuru that fans cheered. He played the guitar with such ease and fans could not help, but marvel at the amazing talent.
Peter’s performance confirmed that Tongai’s legacy will not die.
With the moral support of his ever green dancing boys and Shiga Shiga who has been a pillar of strength, Peter’s star has a great potential to shine even brighter.
