Afro Pop star Nikki Magunda who made a debut appearance on the music scene last year continues to shine with the success of his new album “No Matter What” released in November and believes that he is bound for greater heights this year. The young star rose to stardom with the hit video called “No matter What” that rocked the air waves during the festive season.

Within the three months his album had gain popularity among the youths.

“Last year introduced me to the music industry especially with this video called “No matter What” and l certainly know that this new year l will expand my wings in the industry.

“It is receiving heavy rotational airplay on Power FM, Star FM and ZiFM Stereo and l am very grateful for the support l am getting from my fans.

This video is still doing well on ZTV, “Fresh Wave” a Nigerian TV station and Malawi Television.

Another Nikki’’s track “Sweety” became number 15 on top 100 on ZimNet Radio songs of the year for 2013.

Other tracks on the album include “Ndiye Ega” and “Maihwi” featuring Shinsoman.

Meanwhile, he is working on a new album that will be released sometime in April this year.

“I will be releasing a new album this April that will be well polished.

“I can say with the little time l have in the game, l have already gained some experience since l have been working together with other urban groove artistes.

Last year again gave him an opportunity to tour Malawi with Pamhidzai Mbirimi popularly known as Pah Chihera in October.

“I glad that my album “No matter what” especially the title track opened a door for me to tour Malawi with Pa Chihera where we were representing Zimbabwe at Sunbird Sand Music Festival in October. The Malawian festival says Nikki gave him more exposure on how to perform in front of big crowds.

“Actually that was an eye opener for me as it taught more things I didn’t about music and I am glad I’m now a better musician,” he said.

He added that the year enabled him to share stage with the gospel couple Charles and Olivia Charamba, South African House group Big Nuzz and Orga Family from Zambia.

Apart from music, the talented singer is still a student at a local university.

“I am currently studying towards the degree in Human resource Management at Midlands State University because l don’’t want to be a person who relies on music only that is not paying much because of piracy,” he said.

The 23 year old artiste born in Mutare started his music career in 2011.

“I started music at primary school where l used to sing in the school choir and from there l developed interest in music.

I remember l used to imitate other musicians like the superstar Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi until l decided to do my own staff in December 2011,” he said.

But now, he says he is his own man and can stand his ground.
