tournament where they are set to take on Japan, Georgia and Canada.
Coach Brighton Chivandire said their main aim was to finish in the top six.
Chivandire believes that the side is under pressure to perform given that they put a lot into their preparations this year.
On Wednesday night, the Under-20 side received their tour numbers at a send-off dinner that saw Australian legend David “Campo” Campese giving an inspirational speech to the players before their departure.
In France, the Young Sables will play two games against the Castres Olympique Academy and Castres Olympique Club Rugby side. Having gone to South Africa for three friendlies against provincial sides, receiving help from the IRB in the form of coaches Nico de Villiers from South Africa and Campese and travelling to France, Chivandire is under no illusion of what the nation expects.
“That obviously puts pressure on us to perform given the resources, time and effort that was put into the preparations by the players, the coaches, the committee and the Zimbabwe Rugby Union.
“We have been lacking game time over the past years and the good thing about this year is that we have managed to get a lot of it.
“And the trip to France will definitely strengthen us because we will have two more games and training session with some of the top coaches as well,” said the former Sables lock.
