Harvest House International Church (HHIC) on Sunday successfully hosted its annual Clash of Hub Choirs competition, with this year’s edition marked by the introduction of the Children’s Church Ministry Clash of Choirs.

The competition attracted 22 choirs drawn from various provinces across Zimbabwe, as well as participants from outside the country. Speaking at the event, Harvest Music director Pastor Sukoluhle Luphahla said the initiative is aimed at nurturing and developing quality musicians within the church, improving musical standards, and encouraging creativity and innovation.

The event was adjudicated by a distinguished panel comprising renowned musician and Joyous Celebration co-founder Dr Lindelani Mkhize, gospel star Janet Manyowa and professional vocal coach, Tatenda Gupira.

Now in its ninth year, the Clash of Hub Choirs has grown into a flagship event on the church’s calendar. Last year’s winners, the HQ Choir, did not participate in this year’s senior competition. After spirited performances from all participating groups, three choirs emerged victorious, with South Africa’s RSA Super Choir claiming first place. City Hub 1 finished as first runners-up, while Bulawayo Community Hub 1 secured second runners-up position.

In line with the biblical principle from Proverbs 22:6, which encourages the nurturing of children from a young age, HHIC launched the Children’s Church Ministry Clash of Choirs, the first initiative of its kind within the church. Eight children’s choirs took part, representing Rusape/Makoni, Masvingo, Kwekwe and the host city, Bulawayo.

The children’s competition was judged by celebrated musicians Vuyo Brown and Mimmie Tarukwana. Performances were assessed in two categories, praise and worship. The HQ Choir emerged as winners, with Community Hub 3 finishing as first runners-up and Rusape Makoni Hub taking second runners-up honours.

The Clash of Hub Choirs competition, spearheaded by HHIC founders Bishop Dr Collin Nyathi and Senior Reverend Dr Sarah Nyathi, continues to highlight the depth of musical talent within Harvest House International Church while strengthening unity and excellence across its choirs.

Meanwhile, the church also hosted the Harvest Music — Hlala Nami Live Recording on Friday, adding to a weekend dedicated to worship, music and ministry.
