THE Young Warriors were expected to leave early this morning for their reverse leg of the All-Africa Games qualifying match against Cameroon in Yaounde on Sunday.

There had been reports yesterday that the team was stranded because Zifa had failed to secure funds for the trip.

The Zimbabwe national Under-23 team carries a 1-0 lead going into this match.

Team manager, Charles Mukaronda, yesterday said they were set to leave at 2am aboard a Kenya Airways plane and were expected to arrive in Nairobi, this morning, where they will then connect to Yaounde later in the day.

Mukaronda said the arrival time should give them some time to rest and leave them with time to train a day before the important encounter.

A delegation of 27 people, including 18 players, is expected to travel to West Africa.

Three weeks ago, the Mighty Warriors’ trip to Ghana for their All-Africa Games qualifier was sponsored by by Freda Rebecca Mines.

The mother body is struggling to attract sponsors as the association is continuously associated with mismanagement.

Young Warriors coach, Callisto Pasuwa, goes into this battle with a makeshift team after he failed to get some of the players he wanted for the tie.

He will miss the Highlanders duo of Teenage Hadebe and Thomas Chideu and FC Platinum’s Walter Musona, Emmanuel Mandiranga and Kelvin Moyo.
