Young women in empowerment drive

AWARD-WINNING coach and motivational speaker, Tadzie Madzima, last Saturday hosted a mental and emotional health conference for young women to empower them with survival skills.

The conference was attended by young women from different sectors and was organised by the Ignite Youth Organisation with the support of The Ammartian and the Embassy of the Netherlands.

Madzima emphasised the importance of knowing one’s identity, values and association in making informed decisions in life.

Shaznay Megan Wood, the 2022 Gender Champion with the Netherlands in Zimbabwe, also spoke about their work in eradicating child marriages, while Kagura Vaidah shared how the conference had positively impacted her.

“There is a difference in the way we look at our lives and we have to change that.

“You have to be a woman who has realised her identity for you to make informed decisions in life on your path to becoming a better woman.

“Another important thing is who you associate with and the values of people also determine the course of your life.

“As a woman, you should know who you are, know your values, know what you stand for and stick with it,” said Madzima.

Vaidah said she had planned to leave the gathering at midday, but couldn’t resist taking the full course after a few addresses.

“I hope we will all become the best versions of ourselves and empower those around us.

“We cannot pour from an empty cup, but I strongly believe that we had a refill and our cups are overflowing,” she said.
